Welcome to the first episode of Midnight Transmission!

My membership MIDNIGHT CULT is finally live! I’ve been working on setting up Midnight Cult for like — no joke, 2 years!

Why did you make another membership?
I started Midnight Cult as a way to gain more autonomy in how I interact with fans of my work and supporters, without having to depend on subscription services like Patreon, Kofi or the numerous social media subscription offerings.

I find that the lack of control and autonomy with these services leads to me complying with terms of service I may not feel comfortable with, limits the type of art I can create on their platforms, doesn’t guarantee longterm access to my community (or that they can even see/ get notified of my work), and leaves my work vulnerable to AI scraping. In addition to that goal, I wanted to create a homebase for fans of my work looking to help me continue working while pitching or developing manga, jumpstart my self-publishing projects, and serve as a place where I can serialize my self-published manga. I even commissioned a promo ad for the membership!

What does that mean for Patreon?
Since I’ve been grandfathered into the Founders plan, I’m not going to deactivate or delete my Patreon. I want to keep it around as a back up just in case maintaining Midnight Cult on my own website becomes an issue.

That said, I’m going to be leaving Patreon open strictly as a tip jar and will no longer be uploading work there.

Y’all, I really put a ton of work into creating this membership. With the help of my former assistant, Yun, we spent months planning, designing, coding, organizing, and testing everything we could so this membership to allow me the ability to share my work on my our terms!
